Honoring the Legacy, Embracing the Future
After 25 incredible years, Legends for Kids is transitioning, marking the end of an era while paving the way for new opportunities. Throughout the past two and a half decades, Legends for Kids contributed more than $3.4 million in grants and scholarships to the community, positively impacting over 40,000 young athletes who took part in free camps and clinics.
This year serves as a bridge between past and future, allowing us to celebrate the legacy of Legends for Kids while introducing fresh initiatives from Sanford Sports.
Sanford Sports will always remain committed to supporting sports and well-being programs for youth. In 2025 and beyond, we will continue to look for new opportunities while enhancing programs already in place.
Our 2025 events will continue the spirit that Legends for Kids has always championed.

The Legends for Kids grant has been discontinued in 2025 as Sanford Sports is paving the way for new opportunities for area youth athletes to get involved. Sanford Sports will always remain committed to supporting sports and well-being programs for youth. In 2025 and beyond, we will continue to look for new opportunities while enhancing programs already in place.
The Legends for Kids golf tournament and banquet have been discontinued in 2025. Sanford Sports will always remain committed to supporting sports and well-being programs for youth. At the same time, we will look for ways to evolve programs and opportunities in this new era and beyond.
After 25 incredible years, Legends for Kids is making a transition to pave the way for new opportunities. The evolving needs of our community and coupled with the shifts in how Hy-Vee and Sanford wish to answer those needs have provided room for us to reimagine the format of our programs. Rest assured, the spirit of Legends will remain deeply rooted in our organization and influence our programs and services moving forward. This change reflects our commitment to staying true to our mission while, at the same time, adapting what is most beneficial to the community and feasible for our respective business models. The events planned for 2025 will carry forward the heart and impact that Legends for Kids will leave as its legacy – just in a new and exciting way.
In short, we anticipate that our participants and their parents/guardians won’t notice major changes to our free camps/clinics programming this year. These clinics continue to be a vital part of our mission, and we’re committed to providing the same high-quality, accessible experiences for kids in our community – just as we always have.
